Adult learner found course "rewarding"

Adult learner found course

An adult learner who gained a qualification and won an award for her achievements has praised the process.

Laura Parsons recently won a gong for her work as a learning support assistant at Yatton Infant School.

The 42-year-old from Claverham earned a qualification by learning on a part-time basis while working at the same time.

She told the Mercury that she "really enjoyed the course" and that the experience had proved to be a "very rewarding" one.

"I've gained lots of knowledge and I know how to approach situations better," Ms Parsons commented.

She explained that she decided to take the adult learning course to get more experience and to gain formal qualifications in her chosen field.

"I have the best job in the world," the adult learner enthused.

As well as gaining an award and completing a course to get a qualification, Ms Parsons was praised by other members of staff at the school for her willingness to share her experiences with others.

Earlier this month, two foster parents obtained NVQ level three qualifications in children and young people.

Patsy Harden said completing the course had enabled her and her husband Max to get a better grasp of the theory behind their current jobs and learn about the legal aspects of their position.

She described the process of achieving her NVQ as "enlightening" and said they were both so pleased with their qualifications that they were considering enrolling on further adult learning courses to improve their knowledge and skills.
