More opportunities for online learning in Neath through learndirect

People in Neath now have more opportunities to use the Internet to acquire new skills, at the latest learndirect centre in the town.

The online learning facilities are available at Neath Port Talbot College's Queen Street Centre, following the centre's re-launch as a learndirect Centre recently. The centre is equipped with eight PCs to offer easier access to online learning and to enable those who do not have internet access at home or at work to benefit from the hundreds of online learndirect packages.

MP Peter Hain [Pictured] and AM Gwenda Thomas attended the re-launch, which began with a presentation from the college before a tour of the facilities. Mr Hain said "This is an excellent resource for local people. learndirect and Neath Port Talbot College are making it easier than ever for adults to acquire new skills which are important for finding jobs and getting ahead in their current careers." Also showing their support for the centre were team members from Neath RFC, including Paul Jones, who visited the centre that afternoon.

Head of learndirect in Wales, Jeff Greenidge, who also attended the re-launch said: "At Neath we are offering a one-stop-shop for improving skills. We give advice, learner-friendly courses and support. learndirect aims to encourage local people to acquire the skills they need for work or leisure purposes, and already around 4,000 people in Wales are logging on to learn."
