Patricia Harvey from Walthamstow is celebrating her success after winning an award at the London learndirect Achievement Awards ceremony.
Patricia won the Skills for Work award, sponsored by Jobcentre Plus, which recognises learners who have undertaken learndirect learning in order to return to work or develop their career.
Improving her confidence
Patricia Harvey joined TLE Training Centre after 20 years in a job that had
knocked her confidence and self esteem. In order to improve her prospects
she came to the centre every day to take courses and her perseverance grew
as she achieved numeracy, literacy and IT qualifications.
Through her newly found confidence, Patricia secured an administrative job at a company where she feels valued and respected for what she can offer.
Winning the Skills for Work award
On winning the award, Patricia said: “learndirect has made
a lot of difference to my life and enhanced my career. When I first started
learning my confidence was low, but then I got a job as a receptionist and
now I’m an administrator.
“I’d encourage anyone who’s not working to get themselves involved in learning with learndirect to build up their confidence, just as I have done.”
